Youth Music Opportunities

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Grades 6th - 12th

First Presbyterian offers choir and handbell programs for youth in grades 6th - 12th. Choirs lead in worship and on festival days during the year. In the spring, an entire Sunday morning worship is dedicated to our youth program. Youth Choir

Grades 6-12

Members assume musical leadership in worship more frequently than the younger choirs. Youth choir strives to improve musicianship while singing a varied repertoire. The Youth Choir learns and prepares songs to sing monthly during Sunday worship, for the annual LoveFeast service, the 9 p.m. Christmas Eve sevice, Youth-led Worship and for the annual visit to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. The choir will learn to read and identify more advanced rhythms and musical notations; will sing sacred music in various styles; and will explore a cappella singing.

All Youth Choir members are invited to attend the Montreat Worship & Music Conference in June 2017. More details will be provided in the late fall.

Bells Angels

Late Intermediate/Advanced Handbell Ringers

Ringing five octaves of handbells and four octaves of chimes, youth in Grades 8 and above as well as adult ringers develop ringing and music reading skills through weekly rehearsals in this advanced choir. The Bells Angels choir learns and prepares Level 3 and above handbell music to ring monthly during Sunday worship, for the annual LoveFeast service, the 9 p.m. Christmas Eve service, Youth-led Worship, for the annual visit to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and for other special church and community events. The choir will learn to read and identify more advanced rhythms and musical notations and will practice and utilize various bell ringing techniques.Click to Download Important Dates/Info

Youth Band

Vocalists and Instrumentalists Welcome

The Youth Band leads middle school and high school worship during THE POINT Youth group meetings. This band is geared for late-intermediate and advanced instrumentalists playing guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, string, or wind instruments. The band will learn and be encouraged to be worship leaders, learn sacred music in modern styles and singers will learn and be encouraged to sing harmonies. Click to Download for Important Dates/Info
