Catching Up With Cam… 2018

Catching Up With Cam… 2018

Peace be with you,

2018 is off to an incredible start! As some of you probably realize, January has flown by. Between ice storms, holidays, traveling, and exciting events – this has been a whirlwind month. Here are just a few of the things that the youth group at FPC has been up to and is readily anticipating.

Over the Martin Luther Kings Jr. weekend, some adult chaperones and youth went on a ski adventure to Winterplace Ski Resort near Beckley, West Virginia. It was cold. It was fun! We had a wonderful time learning and honing our skiing and snowboarding skills. We shared a few days on the slopes and we got to know each other better and grow closer to God. When we were taking a break from the slopes, we reflected on scripture and on Dr. King’s legacy for our lives and our world. We appreciate the support of the congregation for making trips such as this one possible.

The middle and high school youth are also getting ready to lead worship on Thursday, February 1 and Sunday, February 4. You will hear from youth worship leaders, preachers, artists, and musicians at     Early Sabbath and both services on Sunday. Come and join us for this inspirational time as we celebrate their talents and God’s good gifts through worship. The Sunday worship services will be followed by the annual Mud Bowl at the Grissom Campus.

For youth worship, we would like to invite everyone to support The Souper Bowl of Caring. This is an annual mission initiative that works to collect and distribute food and funds to local outreach organizations. We will be collecting your canned goods or monetary donations as you leave worship on February 1 & 4.

As you can tell, it is an exciting time for our youth program! We would like for everyone to Save The Date for our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. It will be the evening of February 13 in the Kings Fellowship Hall. More details are coming soon!

Take Care, Cam
