Catching Up With Cam…

The LORD be with you,

Can you believe it is this time of year again?  It is a hectic time of year where we can be consumed with waiting and expectation.  It is easy to get overwhelmed in the busyness of it all at the risk of missing out on the hope, light, and joy that Christ offers to us.  This is often seen as a season of receiving.  As the people of God, we are called to remember that this is also a season of giving.

At FPC, we keep this focus and take Christ’s call to give seriously.  There are many opportunities for you to join us in giving and working for God’s kingdom in our midst during the weeks ahead.  This weekend, the Kings Fellowship Hall becomes the North Pole.  On December 2, many of Santa’s elves stationed at FPC work to provide Christmas for families in our community.  These families are welcomed as guests and they are invited to select Christmas gifts for their children with us.  This annual outreach is made possible by the generosity of our congregants who give their time, energy, and financial support to this worthy cause.

In the weeks leading up to the Adult Mission Trip to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, we invite you to help us start off on the right foot.  We will be accepting your donations of new and gently used shoes at the Grissom and Kings Campuses.  We are doing this because our friends with the Bahamas Youth Network have told us that there is a dire need for quality footwear on the islands where they work.

December is also a time of special offerings in the life of FPC.  On December 14 and 17, we will be collecting the Christmas Joy Offering through the Presbyterian Church.  This offering goes to support Racial Ethnic Schools and Colleges affiliated with our denomination.  In addition to school support, these gifts also help retired ministers and educators after their years of service to the Church.  On Christmas Eve, we will be collecting our annual love offering for Habitat for Humanity of Horry County.  This will be collected at the evening worship services at 5, 7, and 9.  The Christmas Eve Offering helps to support this local organization and benefit families served by Habitat for Humanity.

Please pray for these efforts as we seek to glorify God in service to Christ.  Please listen for how God is calling you to give with us.  It is a time of year to receive.  It is a time of year to give and it is a joy to do so.
