Christa’s Corner

Christa’s Corner

As we approach Holy Week, I would like to share about a few opportunities for you to engage in worship Thursday through Sunday.

On Maundy Thursday, there are two opportunities to worship.  At 6:00 p.m. in Wilkes Hall at the Grissom Campus, there will be a traditional Maundy Thursday service with full sermon and communion.  The music will be provided by our Early Sabbath band, keeping in the tradition of a Maundy Thursday service.  At 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Kings Campus, there will be a second Maundy Thursday service.  Instead of a sermon, as at the 6:00 p.m. service, the interpretation of the word will be offered by our chancel choir who will be singing Mass in C, by Charles Gounod. Communion will be served at this service as well.

On Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be an opportunity for you to engage in a time of prayer in the sanctuary of the Kings Campus.  You are welcome to stay for 10 minutes or 6 hours.  The time of prayer will allow time and space for you to reflect on the importance of Christ’s crucifixion.

On Sunday, there will be four opportunities to worship. An Easter Sunrise service will be held at 7:00 a.m. on the side lot of the Island Vista Resort. Come at 6:30 a.m. for some coffee before we are led in a blended Easter worship service.  At the Kings Campus, three identical traditional services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.  We would invite you to come to the earliest service that it is feasible for you to come to help space out the attendance between the three services.

On a separate note, while Easter and Springtime often mean church activities are beginning to wind down for the year, the work of many ministries in the church continue.  Adult discipleship’s ministries are year-round, and on behalf of the adult discipleship committee, I would like to let you know that we are interested in hearing from you!  While we are currently looking at and talking with populations within our congregation for whom there may be a gap in our educational offerings, we are also interested in hearing from you of what your educational needs are that may not be being met by our church.  Are you interested in being in a small group?  Do you want there to be another Sunday morning educational offering that has a different topical focus or different age group focus than the ones currently formed?  Do you wish there was an educational opportunity for you on another day of the week or another place beside Sunday morning at the Kings Campus?  Whatever interests you have are of interest to us, so if you are looking for something that we are not currently offering, please call me (843-448-4496) or email me cbrewer@mbfpc.com) or e-mail one of our Adult Discipleship Elders, Beth Campbell, chair (beth@booerealty.net) or Don Stevens (dstevens2.eds@gmail.com).  We are here to serve you!
