16 Nov Hold That Thought… Happy Text-Giving!
As we enter the season when we find ourselves being most grateful, let me thank you for being most generous. In the next few weeks we will have several opportunities to give to those in need beyond our regular giving to the mission budget of our church. In addition to fulfilling your pledge for 2017, please consider which (or all!) of these annual special offerings you might like to support.
During the week of Thanksgiving, Thornwell Home in Clinton, SC gets our attention. The ministry Thornwell offers to children who need a safe and secure place to live and grow is second to none. Early in December we work hard to meet the goals of Operation Christmas. Each year our church is given names of many deserving children in our community who otherwise would not have a meaningful Christmas. Our gifts provide a few gifts to each, including much-needed items for the winter months ahead.
Closer to Christmas, we will receive our annual Joy Gift Offering, so appropriately named for the season! Our contributions from this offering meet two well-deserving needs – financial assistance for retired ministers and educators, and scholarships for minority students. Finally, our Christmas Eve offering at all three services goes to our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Unless marked otherwise, all contributions this night will help build a home for a family in our community.
In closing, let me mention yet another vehicle by which we can give. This announcement may not surprise you, but technology now allows us to make contributions from our phones! Text giving is now available in three easy steps if your phone is “smart” enough to do so! (1) Text FPCMB to the number 73256 (2) Type in the amount and credit card info (info is saved for quick pay next time) and (3) Select GIVE.
