21 Feb In The Image
Since January, the children of The Way have faithfully gathered on Wednesday afternoons to rehearse the musical In the Image by Mark Burrows. Through song and word, our children and leaders at The Way have been exploring the question “What does it mean to be made in the image of God?” The children of The Way will be acting out the roles of characters such as the Catalyst, Environmentalist, Artsy-Craftsy, Poet, Literalist, the Mucks, Dancers, the Drummer, Wow, and yes, even Sleepy; all who with their own personalities, learn the many ways of what it means to be created in God’s image. The full ensemble of Kindergarten thru 5th graders will sing meaningful songs that drive the story and will be accompanied by some very gifted instrumentalists from our congregation.
This musical is going to serve as the message in worship on Sunday March 18th. On this day, the youngest members of our community will be leading us in worship at our 8:45 & 11:00am services. There will be a short preview of the musical at Early Sabbath Worship on Thursday, March 15. Music on March 18th will be led by members of The Gathering Band and will also feature our beginner handbell choir, The Ringerifics. Our children will have the opportunity to live into their call as faithful disciples by serving as liturgists, musicians and storytellers. We are blessed to be leading alongside the children of our community for this very special service and are so thankful for the many adult and youth volunteers who have been a huge part of The Way. We look forward to worshiping with everyone on March 17th & 18th.
In Peace, Skip Yingling and Macy Cottom
