The Chapel at FPC

A CAPSTONE EVENT

The Chapel at FPC

What began as a vision for a new campus on 19 acres of prime land now concludes with a beautiful Chapel on the back lawn.  This construction completes a Building Program of more than a quarter century—that, in and of itself, is hard to believe!

Timing is everything, so they say.  And so we believe.  Now seems to be the best opportunity to build the final piece of the Master Plan, a beloved Chapel. Momentum for this effort comes from several sources:

• A Planning Team has designed a simple structure that looks like it has been in place for our entire history.

• Our General Contractor is already on campus completing the Life Center and has agreed to stay in place for this final building.

• Many of our members, including a large number of Seniors, have expressed the desire to see this Chapel become a reality sooner than later.

• The furnishings for the Chapel (pulpit furniture and pews) from the Kings Sanctuary are currently in storage, waiting to be used.

THE FINANCIAL PICTURE

So where is the funding for this project?  Here is the really good news!  With a large Impact Grant from the sale of the Kings Campus, and several major gifts already in place, we are now in a position to move forward.  An estimated construction cost of around four million is within our reach.  The goal, (as always,) is to complete the project without incurring any debt.  In recent years, thanks to your generosity and that of The Chapin Foundation, we have built the Sanctuary Phase and The Life Center while reducing our debt service at the same time!  Plans are in place to eliminate our mortgage (currently just over a million dollars) in the next five years.

THE CHAPEL FUND

Please feel free to respond to this invitation only as you are led to do so.  Some of our members have supported the building program to their capacity.  Thank you! Many others, including our newer members, may still be in a position to help us complete the Master Plan.  Your support of The Chapel Fund is still much needed and most appreciated.

Please take a moment to fill out and return your Commitment Card − responses can be made online, as well. Contributions may be as a one-time gift, a monthly draft, or a two-year pledge. Letting us know your intentions is most helpful for the planning process.  As always, support for our annual mission budget is our highest financial priority.  All other giving is above and beyond our regular pledges. May we be blessed by the generous gifts we make.

A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

In less than two years (February of 2028), our church will be 100 years old!  The excitement of this milestone event makes the Chapel a special gift to our church.  More importantly, this building will offer many benefits for us today. With a seating capacity of about 160 people, it is anticipated that many memorial services, small weddings, and large lectures will be held in the Chapel.  In addition, this worship space will benefit our local community.

HOLD THAT THOUGHT from Rev. Dr. John Brearley

As planned, we are now ready to complete our Building Program!  At long last (more than 25 years since we started), it is finally time to finish the Grissom Campus.  The Chapel we will soon construct is the only remaining facility on the Master Plan. When this vision began the parkway was not even a dirt road!  Now it locates our beautiful church campus.  Your generosity has brought us to this day…

When you read the material (here online or in hand), please do so carefully and prayerfully.  And please take a moment to discern what response you might make.  A few people have indicated a willingness to give larger lead gifts to move this project forward.  If you would consider being one of these donors, please let me know.  All gifts are gratefully appreciated as we head down the home stretch! Together we can complete the vision that began long ago.  What a special blessing that will be!

Peace,  John
